Collectible rocks are among the popular items that people love to collect. If some collect them for fun, others collect them for profit. And you know what, those who do the latter do not mind at all even if they spend a huge amount for these items. However, those who don't, merely start collecting them because they find it fun picking stones, both in near or far places. They do this until their collection became larger. And since collectible rocks are limited in variety, they replace them with better specimens after some time.

Now, if you want to add collectible rocks to your investments, then might as well get a basic knowledge on how to identify them. This is very important so you know the value of the rock you want to collect. Okay, start by learning the three major groups of rocks which are the igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic. These 3 have varying characteristics, so read on geology books and look at geological maps to provide you with more information and guide you in collecting.

So where to begin your search for collectible rocks? Here are some of the options that you can consider: 1. mountains, 2. interior hill lands, 3. piedmont areas, 4. road cuts, 5. outcrops, 6. hills, 7. steep slopes, and 8. quarries. But from these choices, your best locations would be manmade excavations and unweathered outcrops.

Another question, "What if I don't want to leave the comfort of my home, where can I find collectible rocks?" That's a good one. Well, you can always go online. The web offers a wide selection of collectible rocks, together with mineral specimens, fossil specimens, fossil replicas, stone carvings, eggs and spheres, and shells.

Rock collecting is certainly an exciting and rewarding hobby. But for those who consider these collectible rocks more as investment, then make sure you know how to determine which ones are of value and which are not.

Take a look at this minerals and gems resource site. They have a unique collections of gemstones, fossils, mineral specimens and a lot more. Make sure you take a look at the collectible rocks collection on sale.

Have you ever experienced collecting sea shells along the beach when you were a kid? If yes, then perhaps you had so much fun. Indeed, collecting items, sea shells included, is a fun and rewarding activity. But to make it more worthwhile, you must familiarize yourself with the items that you are collecting. Take cypraea shell for example. If you are thinking about including this in your collection, you better read on this article.

The cypraea shell comes from the cowrie, a group of small to large marine gastropods from the family Cypraeidae, kingdom of animalia. The term "money cowry" is widely used for this shell because in the past, it was used as a form of exchange. Today, it is still very popular not just as a collector's item but also as a decorative accessory.

Let's go to the appearance of cypraea shell. There is really no exact appearance for this shell since it all depends on the species where it comes from. If it's from cypraea moneta, you can expect a white to straw-color with gold-colored ring around the dorsal area. But usually, for all the other species, you'll see the shell in colorful patterns and with a size of about 30 to 45 millimeters long. Also, it's smooth and shiny.

Now, you might ask, "Where do I search for this type of shell?" You can begin in shallow tide pools and intertidal rocky areas, because these are its usual habitat. You can also try among sea weeds, coral remains, on and under shallow water rocks, and exposed reefs when low tide.

But if you won't be going to the beach sooner, you can still find cypraea shell even at the comfort of your home. Simply log online to find this item for sale. Collectible items like the cypraea shell are very much available online these days. So no more worries as to where to get them. With just a few mouse clicks, you get the cypraea shell less the hassle.

Take a look at this minerals and gems resource site. They have a unique collections of gemstones, fossils, mineral specimens and a lot more. Some brilliant collection of cypraea shells are on sale here.
